Harshman Optioned to Jersey City
EVANSVILLE, Ind., April 15—New York Giants today announced that Jack Harshman, rookie first baseman, had been optioned to their Jersey City farm club of the International League.
Harshman hit .326 and clouted 22 home runs with Victoria of the Western International League last season. He is regarded as the eventual successor Johnny Mize, slugging first baseman of the Giants.
Harshman, 20, was taken from the San Diego club a few days ago, through exercising an option, when it was learned the Pacific Coast League team planned to his him in the outfield.
