WENATCHEE, May 7—The Victoria Athletics dumped the Wenatchee Chiefs into second place in the Western International League standings by rallying to score a 7-6 decision tonight in the
first game of a four-game series.
A's were behind 5-2 at the end of four innings, but two in the fifth and another pair in the seventh gave them a 6-5 lead, which the home team erased by tallying once in the bottom of the seventh.
Paul Jones took care of that with a ninth-inning homer. It was the third homer of the night for the A's, as Charlie Balassi and Jack Palmer hit two-run shots earlier in the game. Bill Wilson connected with the bags empty for Wenatchee.
Frank Logue, who replaced starter Joe Blankenship in the third, got the victory, which stopped Wenatchee's winning streak at seven games.
