TACOMA, June 16—Bulky John Marshall and veteran Hub Kittle split a double-header tonight. Marshall captured the seven-inning first game as the Bremerton Bluejackets blanked Yakima, 5-0. It was the ninth straight loss for the Packers and their first whitewashing of the season.
The Bluejackets scored all five runs in the fifth inning when they reached Kittle for seven hits, including a three-run double by catcher Frank Volpi and another two-bagged by Ed Samcoff.
Kittle got his revenge in the second game. Relieving Max Strait, who got in trouble in the eighth, Kittle stopped the Tars and gained credit for the victory when the Packers rallied with two runs off Marshall in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 triumph. Marshall relieved Lloyd Hittle in the eighth.
